Tobe Hooper remake of the 1978 original, about a couple who rent an apartment in an old Los Angeles tenement. Once a luxurious art deco hotel, the building has fallen on bad times. When the owners decide to renovate it however, they awaken a supernatural evil that can't be kept out by locks and bolts.
